Load Point Pull
by Debbie W.

We’ve come to take what’s Ours

Three bars into a song you hear that voice and know who it is.

Frank Campabasso ranks right up there with Judas Priest, AC/DC,
Motley Crue, Led Zepplin and Kiss for several reasons: He writes, sings,
co--produces, co-promotes and co-manages the band – (and they have been through more drummers than Spinal Tap –(never can rely on them to do anything but keep a beat and look pretty – )

The rest of the band is equally as skilled: Frank Campobasso (Vocals), Doug Kenworthy (Bass), Denny Sipes (Guitar) and SIB (Drums). All of which co-write some of the music. The original name was Low Point Pull – as in center of gravity and heavy. On the telephone it apparently sounded like Load Point Pull.

So there you have it, too late to turn back and now an entire new fan base of skeet shooters who probably would never have listened to the album at all. But they like it.

The music remains heavy and absolutely centered – Live, they slam. Regionally, promoters are begging to book them and the have opened for many national bands including: Hellyeah, Otep, Anthrax, Prong, Creed, Bret Michaels Band, Vince Neil, Jackyl, Bonham,

a prayer to all of those who have lost loved ones to violence

Given all the world violence they were considering changing the name – but when you think of it musically – a prayer to all of those who have lost loved ones to violence. In no way does LPP approve of it - they support music and the good that comes out of it – no matter what type of music you listen to.

It is time for Load Point Pull to “Take What’s Ours” (1998). The “Down in Flames“album is a fave. They have worked hard for a long time and if you are into that kind of music This is a band to listen to.

Check out all their stuff! Go to You Tube and check out “Thornes” – It is from their upcoming album and they sound better than ever. There is a whole back story to that – stay tuned.

Labeled one of Rocks best unsigned bands after their first release in 1998 “We’ve come to take what’s Ours”, the band received rotation on various stations from Kansas City to the Salt Lake City with the single “Sentimental Genocide” and other tracks like“Monkey” and “Rain”, and the Gogos “Bonus track” which is still in rotation on various Cable Music indie channelsand internet radio.

Now in the studio recording their soon to be titled release, The songs are getting better with age….evolving as they should… Collaborating always and not only is touring in their sights, They’re always working on new material and ideas keeping their arsenal full with their infectious brand of hard rock.

We recently got the chance to ask
Guitarist Denny Sipes some questions about the band,
take a look at what he had to say:

  • Tell us a little about what brought you to where you are today? How you got started, influences etc.
Guitars, guitars, and more guitars!!! Was 6 or 7 and dads friends had them and had to have one just to touch them haha every decent player you can think of I was listening to and over 30+ yrs of playing you hear a melting pot of all of them…started playing instantly from Hendrix to Roy Clark, Beck, Page, VH, Randy, Dime, Lukather, Walsh, all the big guns but also the crazy acoustic players …..

  • What are you and your band doing currently?
We are in the process of rehearsing and demoing new songs for our upcoming Load Point Pull CD, gonna be a great record…killer in your face grooves with lots of live energy this time on the tracking.

  • Tell us about your songwriting/recording process and what we can expect on your latest tunes? What can we expect to see from you in the future?
Lots of guitar playing, hopefully plenty more show.

  • Tell us a few things about yourself that may surprise us?
Pretty damn good bowler and decent golfer haha.

  • What music are you enjoying currently?
Slash w Miles Kennedy pretty good stuff especially the RnFnR disc…lots of extreme death metal , like the energy of those bands, listen to the drummers mainly haha.

  • If you could go back in time what would you do differently in your career?
Stay on road constantly when 18-19, trying to always have a gig and playing

  • If you could play with any musician in history who would it be?
    Hendrix or Randy for sure

  • Where do you see your career going in the next five years?
The great family life with my wife and kids and still making a decent living doing what I love ..Guitar…cover bands, original band, don’t matter as long as I can plug in… maybe a few CDs maybe a solo record?! Who knows!!

  • Other than being an artist what did you think about doing as a career when you were a child?
Wanted to be a left-fielder in MLB haha…oh….and the six-million dollar man lol

  • What has been your best experience in the business? And Why?
Having a chance to be in some road worthy bands (Bishop Steel, Load Point Pull etc…) learned firsthand from some great writers and musician and showman from young age what it takes to get out on a stage and pour your life out basically each and every time
    .
  • What has been your worst experience in the business? And Why?
Having to deal with seedy booking agents ..Things have changed a lot in the modern music industry, but those learning curves all those years and mistakes and things you learn…make you know what to watch out for these days

  • What is it you love about what you do?
Being able to control loud energy and feelings and put them right out to the people and they get it!! Nothing better than that vibe

  • What is it you hate about what you do?
That it cuts into family life sometimes but you have to take the good with the bad…I'm glad I get to still rock out, keeps me sane(somewhat..)

  • If you could make a major change in the business…. What would you like to see?
More different bands again, not as much designated sections of music, everybody trying to be the next blah-blah…and record companies believing in their bands again ..Making LPs again for all rock-metal records..Give the kids real artwork like we had

  • What would you like to be your contribution to music biz?
Loved playing guitars loud and always with feeling no matter what!!

  • How do you feel the Internet has changed the business? Positive and Negative?
Personally negative but there are positives to the changes too. You can learn any song at any time; watch any video at any time

  • Where do you see business and music moving to?
    More online and world wide

  • How can the business side and artists better work together?
There are lots of areas to the business side and the artist side so it really depends.

If you have the chance to see them live just DO IT.
